Annual Fire Door Pull Tests

Dear Residents,

The ‘Annual Fire Door Pull’ tests are scheduled to be carried out at ALT this month as part of satisfying the building’s occupancy obligations.

WHEN:

Thursday, 31st October 2019 between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

WHAT:

These tests are intended to simulate a real case fire emergency scenario.

Throughout the day you will notice:

  • Common Area corridor supply air fans will momentarily be non-operable;
  • the stairwell fire doors will be unlatched; and
  • the corridor smoke doors will be closed and the magnetic latches disabled.

These are compulsory tests to ensure and comply with the Occupancy Permit awarded to ALT & Sienna Buildings. Residents in apartment numbers 1 – 4 and 18 – 21 on each level. Please note: when accessing your apartment’s area please do not ‘wedge’ open the smoke door in the corridor.

WHY:

As part of the building’s Occupancy Permit, door pull testing is required on an annual basis to warrant the corridors and fire stairs air pressure and velocity do not exert an undesirable force against the fire and smoke doors. By ensuring the pressures are within tolerance, in the event of an evacuation, fire and smoke doors will be more comfortable and tolerable to open for residents.

 

Please ensure that the smoke doors are pulled/pushed gently and closed accordingly.
